What this plan covers
The Melaka itinerary with kids suits families who want a mix of heritage, a ship museum, a tower, a river ride and a zoo. The first day stays on foot around the old town, linking four stops before a river cruise; Day 2 gives Zoo Melaka the daytime hours before Jonker Street in the evening. Arrange your dates first if the night market matters: Friday and Saturday are the days to target. Check museum schedules and the cruise’s operating conditions before setting out, and plan a ride from the zoo into town.
Opening hours, prices and routes can change, so check the details before you set off.

StadthuysChrist Church
The Stadthuys was completed in 1650 as the Dutch governors’ residence and office, serving in that role until British control began in 1824. Christ Church was completed in 1753; its red exterior dates to 1911. Use the square to compare the Stadthuys with Christ Church, which stands on its south side. It gives children a clear landmark pair to spot before the short walk onward.
Good to know
Allow about 1.5 hours at the Stadthuys. The museum’s hours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and Monday closure. Begin at Dutch Square and take in the surrounding buildings before setting off for the next stop.

Muzium Samudera is a replica of the Flor de la Mar, built in the early 1990s and officially opened on 13 June 1994. Its exhibits cover Melaka’s maritime history, including trading eras, old maps, ship models and maritime artifacts. The ship-shaped outline gives children an easy visual cue before they go inside. Ask each child to choose one display to point out on the way through, then continue towards the tower.
Good to know
The museum’s hours are 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Monday–Thursday and 9:00 AM–6:00 PM Friday–Sunday; check before you go for schedule changes. From Dutch Square, the Maritime Museum is about 6 minutes on foot.

Menara Taming Sari
Viewpoint
45 minutes
Menara Taming Sari’s name and design were inspired by the Taming Sari dagger, the legendary weapon associated with Malay warrior Hang Tuah. The tower opened to the public on 18 April 2008. Ride the revolving cabin for views of St. Paul’s Hill, the Maritime Museum and Flor de la Mar, then look toward the Melaka River, Pulau Besar and the Strait of Malacca. The cabin turns through 360 degrees at 80 metres during a ride of about seven minutes.
Good to know
The tower is open 9 a.m.–10 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.–11 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. Continue from the ship museum; Menara Taming Sari is about 5 minutes on foot.

Distances are estimates, measured in a straight line from the middle of your stops.
Does a Melaka itinerary with kids fit into two days?
Two days work for this mix if you keep Day 1 to the four old-town stops and reserve a daytime block for Zoo Melaka. The zoo-to-Jonker transfer is a separate road ride, so Friday or Saturday works best if the night market is a priority.
What should we arrange or check first?
Set your dates first if you want the Jonker Street night market; Friday and Saturday are the cautious choice, with the market running approximately 6:00 p.m. to midnight. Check the museum schedules and river cruise conditions before setting out.
What should we wear and bring for these stops?
Comfortable walking shoes suit the old-town route, and rain protection is useful since afternoon showers are common all year. There are no temple or mosque stops in this route. If you add one, dress modestly and remove shoes where asked.
How do we get around between the stops?
Walk between Dutch Square, the Maritime Museum, Menara Taming Sari and the river cruise. For Day 2, the zoo-to-Jonker road leg is about 14 minutes by car or e-hailing ride, longer in traffic.
Where is a practical area to stay with children?
The Jonker Street area suits families who want the evening stop close by and a base near the old-town sights. This site has 715 stays within 1 km of Jonker Street, so compare the area with your preferred day and evening rhythm.
